Product Description
Common use

Lincocin is an antibiotic used in treatment only of serious infections due to risk of pseudomembranous colitis. This antibiotic is produced by Streptomyces lincolniensis and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It is active against Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., taphylococcus spp., H. influenzae, Mycoplasma spp., Bacteroides spp., Clostridium perfringens, Clostridium tetani Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Diseases treated by Lincocin include: septicemia, bacterial endocarditis, chronic pneumonia, lung abscess, pleural empyema, osteomyelitis, purulent arthritis, postoperative septic complications, wound infection, infection of skin and soft tissue infections.



Dosage and directions

Take Lincocin on an empty stomach one hour before or two hours after a meal. To avoid a stomach upset it maybe taken with milk, water or food. Do not take a lying positing for 30 minutes after taking this medication. Intake of this medication should be divided by equal intervals to get the best benefit from it. Do not stop or start this medication without your doctor's permission.



Precautions

Blood, kidney or liver functions should be monitored on a regular basis while you are on Lincocin.



Contraindications

Concomitant use with kanamycin, barbiturates, theophylline, calcium gluconate, heparin and magnesium sulfate is contraindicated. Antidiarrheal medications decrease effects of Lincocin. Lincocin increases neuromuscular blockade caused by myorelaxants. This medication also interacts with erythromycin and aminoglycosides.



Possible side effect

The most common side effects are vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, pain in the upper stomach, glossit, stomatitis, changes of transaminase activity, candidiasis of gastroentestinal track while long time on Lincocin, pseudomembranous colitis, allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, swelling). In case of aggravation of these symptoms, inform your doctor. If diarrhea becomes a problem, do not start treatment with anti-diarrhea medications.



Drug interaction

Transitory side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, headache, dizziness, sore mouth and cramps occur till the organism accustoms to the medication. If adverse reactions worsen or become bothersome seek immediate medical attention.



Missed dose

If you missed a dose take it as soon as you remember. If it almost time of your next dose just skip it and return to your regular schedule. Never double dose this medication.



Overdose

Seek immediate medical attention if chest pain, feeling light-headed, or fainting occur.



Storage

Store at room temperature between 59-77 F (15-25 C) away from light and moisture, kids and pets. Do not use after expiration term.
